The beautiful Chalet Avenir is the home of Amy and Ian Johnston and our business, Lifecycol.

Lifecycol is about progress in life through adventures, in an inspirational mountain landscape.

This is the mantra that we live by and our aim is to support others in their adventures, whatever they may be, in this awesome Alpine playground.

In the winter months we offer a comfortable, welcoming base for those who’d like to experience snowy adventures.

During the inter-season and summer months we’re about all things cycling and fitness, our true passions. We offer pre-organised, structured cycling and fitness breaks, as well as exclusive use, personalised breaks designed for your specific group.

As sportspeople ourselves, we know that each individual is different, with their own level of fitness, comfort zone and unique aspirations. We will accommodate and support all levels of fitness and experience within the cycling or fitness realm; don’t worry, just enjoy every step of the adventure.

At Lifecycol we are also very passionate about our food! Your body is your home, and nutrition, especially in the realm of sport and fitness, is extremely important. This is why, whatever the reason for your stay with us, we will always feed you meals that have been selected for their quality nutrition, personal meaning, and of course, tastiness!

Lifecycol are genuinely excited about our ongoing mountain adventures and we can’t wait to help you with yours…

Ian, or ‘Jonno’ as he is more commonly known, is a genuine die-hard road cyclist! Born and bred in Lancashire, he has always ridden the challenging terrain of the Lakes and Dales. Ian discovered Alpine road cycling over 20 years ago and has cycled the Alps every year since, before finally moving to Morzine to indulge in his passion full-time.

Ian has taken on many tough endurance cycling adventures throughout his life. He has experienced how it feels to push yourself to the limit on a bike! Some of his crazier cycling challenges include; a solo 4 day 1000-mile non-stop ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats; a solo 21 day 2300-mile ride of the 2008 Tour de France route; a 5 day unsupported Pyrenean traverse; a 3000-mile fundraising ride from Durness in Scotland to Mount Etna in Sicily with Lifecycol’s Amy, in September 2014. Over the years Ian has raised over £60k for charity because of his madcap cycling adventures!

Prior to establishing Lifecycol, Ian owned a successful cycle touring business, for which he planned the logistics for many complex, multi-day, linear tours in the UK and Europe. Previous routes include London to Paris with 50 riders, Paris to Nice, Nice to Venice and the Pyrenean traverse, Biarritz to Barcelona. Ian is a fully qualified Advanced Driver and knows exactly what is required to guide and support groups of cyclists in a safe and enjoyable manner.

Ian is qualified in NLP techniques and understands the important part psychology plays in cycling. As an extremely experienced cyclist, Ian is able to ride with your group, though he is normally found driving one of the team vehicles carrying all the kit! Ian also holds a Cytech home mechanics qualification.

Drawing on his wealth of experience and knowledge for each cycling break, Ian aims to create a relaxed, friendly and supportive team environment for every group, with the emphasis on enjoyment and personal achievement; he aims to look after you exactly as he would expect to be looked after himself.

After serving for 30 years as a Police Officer where he won international awards for problem solving within law enforcement, he now works to inspire others to achieve their aspirations of awesome cycling adventures in the iconic French Alps.

Prior to training as a PT, Amy began her fitness journey through a love of running. Since that time she has continued to develop her knowledge and love of fitness and nutrition through ongoing self-study and training. Not always as fit as she is now, Amy can relate to those less confident in their ability to push themselves. She is fully inclusive in her teaching approach, encouraging each individual to work to their optimum level and fulfil their potential, whether on a one-to-one basis or in a group session.

She is no stranger to cycle touring life, having helped organise numerous events in the previous cycling business. She knows exactly what is required from both the cyclist and the support team in order to achieve a safe and enjoyable ride.

As a fitness professional, formerly running her own successful personal training business in the UK, Amy will happily provide personalised advice and training plans using exercises that will complement and enhance your cycling training, based on her own experience of what works best.

In the inter-season and summer months, Amy will draw on her diverse skill set – she is also a fully qualified teacher! – to organise and run fitness breaks, both pre-structured and personalised, for groups eager to train in an inspirational mountain landscape. Whether you want a tough few days training to prepare for an event or just a few gentle fitness sessions to get your blood pumping in the fresh Alpine air, Amy can design the right break for you.
